Maison pour le Développement des Compétences Interculturelles
Founded in 2016, MDCI is a non-profit organisation designing and delivering training programmes to support the development of intercultural competencies.
Christine Fornaroli, Marc Jacobs and Tatjana von Bonkewitz are members of the board and are driving MDCI’s activities.
All our trainers are Intercultural Specialists and are certified by the renowned Hofstede Centre.
What we do
We work on the basis of Prof. Geert Hofstede’s 6D model of national cultures. His model is widely recognized as the most academically solid to date. It has been validated by more than 60 independant studies and continues to be developped by highly respected academics in the field.
Our courses introduce the common language of the 6D model to visualize and objectively describe cultural differences. This results in dramatically improved mutual understanding.
We also provide highly practical web and smartphone-based tools that provide real concrete help to better manage intercultural challenges.
Training packages can be designed to fit specific needs and requirements.

420 people registered for the Orientation Day which gave new residents who have signed the CAI the opportunity to explore the services offered in Luxembourg. Language schools, government agencies, social services and MDCI. The stand was busy throughout the afternoon, intercultural understanding being one of the top topics in Luxembourg’s cultural mix.
Orientation Day, November 25th at Forum Geeseknaeppchen
Close to 600 people were invited. Christine and Tatjana were busy explaining MDCI’s activities and registering lots of newcomers for the next training sessions. Minister Corinne Cahen spent some time exploring Hofstede’s 6D model and the outlook to the application which will be developed in 2018. A very successful day.
